Bill Cosby is set to perform at the New York Comedy Festival this Saturday, just one day after Hannibal Buress, a fellow comedian who in the recent past caused the 77-year-old legend major headaches by bringing up past rape allegations.

TMZ has reported that "The Queen Latifah Show" canceled a scheduled Cosby appearance after a taping of Buress' scathing comedy bit went viral. In the bit, Buress reminds audiences that Cosby was sued in civil court in 2005 by a woman who alleged she was drugged and sexually assaulted by him. The case was settled out of court.

"Bill Cosby has the f***ing smuggest old black man public persona that I hate," Buress says in the bit, The Washington Post reported.

"He just gets on TV – 'Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the '80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom.' Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby. So, brings you down a couple notches."

After TMZ published its report, producers at "The Queen Latifah Show" released a statement denying the booking was canceled by them.

"Mr. Cosby's scheduled appearance on The Queen Latifah Show was postponed at his request and was in no way related to any of our recent or upcoming scheduled guests," said a spokesperson for the show.

According to The New York Times, Buress has talked about the controversy on Howard Stern's radio show, and consulted fellow comedian Dave Chappelle for advice on how to handle it. Chappelle advised Buress to continue pushing the issue.

Cosby has been making a comeback of sorts in recent years, having done a special with Comedy Central last year and this year having announced he's doing a new series pilot with NBC.
