Bill Cosby is eyeing a return to comedy and has already reportedly been approached by promoters and club owners.
The 83-year-old "Cosby Show" actor was released from prison last week after a judge vacated his three- to- 10-year sentence for sexual assault, and spent the first night as a free man doing "comedy routines," his spokesperson Andrew Wyatt revealed to Fox News, adding that Cosby hoped to revive his stand-up career.
"He wants to get back on stage sooner or later," Wyatt said.
"A number of promoters have called. Comedy club owners have called. People want to see him," Wyatt further told Inside Edition.
Cosby was released from SCI Phoenix in Collegeville, Pa., outside Philadelphia, just before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday last week. His first meal as a free man was a pizza, Wyatt shared with Fox News. Cosby also stayed up until the early hours of the morning "just telling jokes and having fun, enjoying life," he added.
Outrage erupted when Cosby's conviction was overturned. Journalist Joan Tarshis, who claimed Cosby raped her when she was 19 years old, described the ruling as "horrible."
"It's going to discourage people from coming forward. If he got let out, then what's the point?” she told Inside Edition.
"I’m angry that the court system is skewed in such a way that wealthy and powerful people, particularly men, are advantaged over women," added Patricia Steuer, who said Cosby drugged and raped her in the 1970s, when she was an emerging singer.
Actress Amber Tamblyn, a founding member of Time’s Up, also slammed the court.
"I am furious to hear this news," she wrote on Twitter.
"I personally know women who this man drugged and raped while unconscious. Shame on the court and this decision … I don’t want to hear anything about how cancel culture ruined men’s lives during the MeToo era reckoning for women and survivors. How we went too far. Today’s news that Cosby’s conviction is being overturned is proof we haven’t gone far enough. Our justice system MUST change."
Wyatt said Cosby and his team are not "even paying attention" to the outcries.
"That's not even on our radar screen," he said.
Lawyer Jennifer Bonjean, who argued Cosby's appeal, meanwhile stated that he should never have been prosecuted for the offenses.
"District attorneys can’t change it up simply because of their political motivation," she said, adding that Cosby remains in excellent health, despite being legally blind.
