Two women have been criminally charged in connection with a massive brawl that broke out between Bath & Body Works employees and a customer.
The incident took place Saturday in the store located in Arizona's Fashion Square Mall. Footage of the brawl shows a woman fighting with a female employee. Another staffer then tackles the customer to the ground. Other employees and a customer rush to intervene but the fight only escalates. At one point the group is seen fighting, pulling hair, and screaming at one another.
A male member of staff then forcefully directs the woman involved in the initial fight and another customer towards the door, ordering that they "get out now!" The woman repeatedly tells the employee not to touch her and refuses to leave without her purse. The male staffer is eventually able to usher her out of the door.
The person who managed to catch the tussle on camera, who gave her name as Genevieve, said the fight broke out because one customer was standing too close to another. The woman who was involved in the brawl allegedly refused to leave when employees tried to de-escalate the situation.
A second video of the incident shows the customer involved arguing with an African American woman before the fight broke out, according to TMZ, which reported that politically charged language was used.
A spokesperson for Bath & Body Works parent company, L Brands, told Fox News that it was "deeply concerned by the incident in one of our stores." They were working with local law enforcement to investigate the matter.
Scottsdale Police Department spokesperson Sergeant Kevin Quon said that the incident was "not mask nor race related" but arose when someone cut in line.
