Ayesha Curry, the owner of International Smoke, a new Houston restaurant, is feeling the heat with a flurry of one-star Yelp reviews — and she hasn’t even opened the restaurant yet.

It’s likely the doing of Houston Rockets fans after the Rockets lost the Western Conference NBA finals to the Golden State Warriors, who were led by the restaurateur's husband Stephen Curry.

“This is absolutely the worst place to go — her husband ripped our hearts out and now she has the guts to open up a place here??” one reviewer wrote on Yelp.

And the food quality was dissed even though International Smoke hadn’t yet opened.

“BBQ was extremely chewy and a choking hazard," another review proclaimed.

“Because Texan barbecue apparently isn’t good enough so we need San Francisco to tell us how it is done, because the Bay Area is really a bbq Mecca. Lol. Steph is overrated. Klay sucks. There is no such thing as a glue guy, that is just what they call people who aren’t good at anything. (@draymond) KD showed us that not ALL cupcakes are good. I would give 0 stars, but yelp didn’t realize a team could stoop so low,” another review said.

“This is absolutely the worst place to go — her husband cheated his way to a championship and now she has the guts to open up a place here?? I would never set foot in this place even if it was the last place on earth P.S. This restaurant is full of snakes,” posted another.

When Warriors fans caught on to what was happening, they posted their own five-star reviews

“I reaaaly love this restaurant because the people behind it really did their research on what Houston is all about. The food definitely caters to the flavors Houston-ians(?) really enjoy in their mouth : Salty, Sour, and most of all… Bitter. So come by and indulge. I recommend getting their super special Salt Water to keep your saltiness hydrated,” one person wrote.

Ayesha Curry remained above the fray, however. Rather than respond to the critics, she encouraged Texans to come give it a try.

A notice on Yelp said some of the reviews would probably be removed as part of a cleanup process. "While we don’t take a stand one way or the other when it comes to these news events, we do work to remove both positive and negative posts that appear to be motivated more by the news coverage itself than the reviewer’s personal consumer experience with the business," the website said.
