Singer Ariana Grande is shining a bright light on mental health after sharing "terrifying" images of her brain scan that clearly shows the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder suffered after a suicide bomber killed 22 people at one of her concerts.

The 25-year-old pop star posted the scans of her own brain alongside scans of a "healthy brain" and one that suffers from PTSD to her Instagram stories on Thursday, Fox News reported. In Grande's scans, more areas of her brain were highlighted than in the other two examples.

"Guys….. My brain," she wrote, adding that it was "not a joke."

The "Thank U, Next" singer didn’t say when the scans were taken but she has been open about her battle with PTSD after the bombing at her concert in Manchester on May 22, 2017. Grande has repeatedly expressed guilt and regret for the families and fans who suffered directly from the incident.

"It's hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss," she said in an interview with Vogue. "I know those families and my fans, and everyone there experienced a tremendous amount of it as well."

Grande revealed how she was struggling with anxiety and the effects of PTSD in the wake of the bombing.

"My anxiety has anxiety… I've always had anxiety" she said. "I've never really spoken about it because I thought everyone had it, but when I got home from tour it was the most severe I think it's ever been."

In 2018 Grande again said the incident weighed on her heart every day.

"I wish there was more that I could fix," she said, according to People. "You think with time it’ll become easier to talk about. Or you’ll make peace with it. But every day I wait for that peace to come and it’s still very painful."
