President Donald Trump is not to blame for the rise in anti-Semitism in Europe, says Abraham Foxman, national director emeritus for the Anti-Defamation League.
Foxman’s comments came in an interview with The Algemeiner.
“It’s chic to put the blame on Trump,” Foxman said. “But Trump isn’t responsible for what’s going on in Europe.”
The Algemeiner noted violent attacks on Jews increased in Germany by 60 percent in 2018. France recorded an overall rise of 74 percent in the number of anti-Semitic incidents. The number of anti-Semitic incidents in the United Kingdom soared to 1,652.
“To believe that we can eradicate anti-Semitism is a pipe dream,” Foxman said.
“If we didn’t find a vaccine after Auschwitz, we’re not gonna find one now.”
