Anthony Weiner, Sean Hannity Go One-on-One on Fox News (Video)

Disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner tried to shy away from his failed New York City mayoral bid and sexting controversy with Fox News host Sean Hannity Wednesday night.

Hannity, though, wouldn't let Weiner, who resigned from the House of Representatives in disgrace in 2011, completely skirt the issue in a contentious interview that left the host wondering if Weiner was actually auditioning for Fox's competitor.

"You’re auditioning for MSNBC! You’re auditioning," Hannity said near the end of the interview as the two verbally sparked from Obamacare, raising the debt ceiling and New York politician's future. "You want Chris Matthews’ job, I can tell. You never shut up like Chris Matthews either."

"Why do you always have patsies on?" Weiner responded. "Fox apparently has much lower standards, I much rather have a job on Fox!"

Hannity shot back, "Want me to talk about low standards? You really want me to go here?"

"I’ll go wherever you want," Weiner replied. "I’m here for an interview apparently."

Weiner told Hannity that he is "done" talking about the sexting scandal, claiming that he gave a full airing of it during the campaign and felt the people he countered much preferred talking about the economy and other political issues.

Hannity still mentioned Sydney Leathers, Weiner's alleged sexting partner who helped derail his mayoral bid this year. Hannity told Weiner and Leathers told him during an interview that the politician disliked Hannity the most of Fox hosts. Weiner disagreed.

"I'm on your show," Weiner responded.

According to Mediaite.com, Weiner agreed that some Democrats have played politics with the debt ceiling in the past, but Republicans taken the game to new level of "stand-off with the economy."

In September, Weiner ended up getting five percent of the vote in the Democratic primary of the New York City mayoral race, which was won by Bill de Blasio, reported the New York Daily News. The one-time front runner for mayor was undone by new sexting allegations from Leathers, who was an Indiana college student at the time.

Weiner resigned from Congress in 2011 after he sent a lewd photo of himself to a woman on Twitter which actually went to all of his followers, exposing his larger sexting issue with other women, according to the Huffington Post.
