Anthony Scaramucci is the new White House director of communications, but while the president has known Scaramucci for 20 years, there are probably some things you didn't know about the investment banker from Long Island, New York.

1. He's a huge Mets fan. Scaramucci was part of a group who bought Mike Piazza's jersey worn Sept. 21, 2001, the first night professional sports resumed in New York after 9/11, the New York Daily News reported. Piazza hit two home runs in the game, which Scaramucci attended. The jersey is displayed on rotation by three different NYC venues.

2. Goldman Sachs was Scaramucci's first job out of law school, and he was fired a year later. "I was terrible at it," he told New York Magazine. He would return to Goldman Sachs soon after and stay there until 1996, when he left to start his own business.

3. In 2008, he was a fundraiser for Barack Obama, whom he knew in law school, he told Gawker. It was the only time he crossed the aisle, returning to the Republican side to help Mitt Romney's campaign in 2012.

4. His nickname is "The Mooch," presumably because of his last name.

5. He was the New York Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011, which "recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities," according to a news release.

6. Scaramucci has written three books: " Goodbye Gordon Gekko: How to Find Your Fortune Without Losing Your Soul" in 2010, " The Little Book of Hedge Funds" in 2012, and "Hopping Over the Rabbit Hole: How Entrepreneurs Turn Failure Into Success" in 2016.

7. He's spoken out in favor of gun control in the past. "We (the USA) has 5% of the world's population but 50% of the world's guns. Enough is enough. It is just common sense it apply more controls," he tweeted in 2012.

8. Scaramucci has a regular table at Rao's. The Harlem eatery is a haven for bankers, celebs, and power brokers. He was spotted last April at the hangout with Jeb Bush and Derek Jeter giving them advice on their bid for the Marlins baseball team.

9. He has hosted the popular financial show "Wall Street Week," which airs on Fox Business Channel. Scaramucci launched the show in 2015 on Newsmax TV, naming it after the PBS program hosted by the late Louis Rukeyser.
