Anthony Bourdain’s daughter will get most of his $1.2M estate, but not his frequent flyer miles. Those go to his estranged wife Ottavia Busia-Bourdain, Wonder Wall reported.
All this and not much more was revealed after the celebrity chef’s will was filed Thursday in Manhattan Surrogate's Court. The will was dated when the two were still married and she is the executor.
Despite assumptions that Bourdain was worth about $16 million, his fortune amounted to only $1.21 million when Bourdain hanged himself in a hotel bathroom in Kraysersberg, France, on June 8. He was 61.
According to The New York Post’s Page Six, Bourdain’s assets included $425,000 in “cash and savings,” $35,000 in a brokerage account, $250,000 in “personal property,” and $500,000 in “intangible property including royalties and residuals.”
This bulk of this goes to 11-year-old Ariane Busia-Bourdain.
Her mother, Bourdain’s estranged wife, has control over his estate as well as his “accumulated frequent flier miles.” Bourdain asked her to “dispose of [them] in accordance with what [she] believes to have been my wishes,” Page Six noted.
Bourdain and Ottavia Busia-Bourdain purchased an East 94th Street condo in 2014 and, while it wasn’t mentioned in the will, the legal document does mention a $1 million mortgage liability for an unspecified property.
At the time of his death, Bourdain was dating Italian actress Asia Argento.
Upon news of his death, Argento said she was "beyond devastated" at the tragic end of her "fearless spirit" and "rock."
"Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did," Italian actress and model wrote in a heartbreaking message on Twitter.
Ottavia Busia-Bourdain broke her silence following his death with a sentimental post to Instagram of their daughter, who had her first concert with her band, Newsday noted.
“Our little girl had her concert today,” she said in the post. “She was amazing. So strong and brave. She wore the boots you bought her. I hope you are having a good trip, wherever you are.”
An autopsy report on Bourdain contained nothing to raise eyebrows.
