Andrea Sneiderman Guilty of Perjury in Husband's Murder Case

By    |   Monday, 19 August 2013 06:31 PM

Andrea Sneiderman was found guilty Monday of nine of 13 counts, including perjury, in connection with an investigation of her husband’s 2010 murder.

Sneiderman’s husband, Rusty Sneiderman, was killed in 2010 outside a daycare, and her former boss, Hemy Neuman, was found guilty of murder. Neuman was found to be mentally ill.

Prosecutors said throughout the trial that Sneiderman was in a relationship with Neuman and that she refused to admit it, lying throughout the investigation. Sneiderman denied the relationship.

Sneiderman was charged with seven counts of perjury and other charges, all about misleading investigators during the search for her husband’s killer, ABC News said. She was found guilty of four of the perjury counts, hindering the apprehension of a criminal, concealment of material facts, and several counts of giving a false statement.

Sneiderman has been under house arrest for a year, living with her parents and two young children, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said. The newspaper said she was freed after her bond was reduced when prosecutors dumped murder charges just one week before her trial started.

“In my book, this has been a travesty, this has been an offense to our justice system,” a friend, Steffi Miller, told the AJC. “The people who are going to pay the most are her parents and children.”

One juror, who refused to be identified in the AJC article, said the jury was impacted by Sneiderman’s testimony during Neuman’s trial and also by numerous emails the two sent each other.

A woman who used to be Sneiderman’s best friend, Shayna Citron, testified at the trial that Sneiderman had “checked out” of her marriage, and that Sneiderman’s eyes sparkled when she talked about Neuman, the AJC reported. Others testified the two had been happily married.
