An American DEA agent has died in a robbery attempt in Colombia, according to U.S. Ambassador Michael McKinley in Bogata.
McKinley said in a Friday interview with local Radio Caracol that
the anti-drug agent had left a Bogota restaurant with his friends after watching the NBA final on Thursday night when he was killed, The Associated Press reported. He says the robbery attempt occurred after the agent got into a taxi.

The ambassador did not release the man's name, and declined to offer details of the crime because it's still being investigated by Colombian authorities.
Local media said the agent for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration had worked in the country for 13 months.
Colombian police are expected to release more details about the case later Friday.
