Amanda Kloots is remembering her late husband Nick Cordero a year after he died of complications from COVID-19.

"Today hurts, there is no other way around it," she wrote in an Instagram post on Monday. "One year ago you left us and became our angel in heaven. You were surrounded by so much love and Led Zeppelin playing on Spotify-no doubt that was your doing, not mine."

Cordero was admitted into the emergency room on March 30, 2020, after contracting the coronavirus, and suffered various health setbacks, including mini-strokes, blood clots, sepsis infections, and a tracheostomy. He was placed on a ventilator, had a temporary pacemaker implanted, and had his right leg amputated.

"What happened was unthinkable, losing you was my biggest fear. I used to tell you all the time, 'Don’t you dare go anywhere. If I lost you, I don’t know what I’d do,'" Kloots continued in her Instagram post. "There hasn’t been a day this year where you weren’t missed, thought about and talked about. Thank you for being our guardian angel, for sending me signs, for being my DJ in heaven. I know you’re just 2" away."

Kloots wrote that, although she and Cordero only had "a few short years together," their time was "filled with so much love, laughter, adventure, dreams, change and growth."

"It was my 'Nick era' and I’ll have it forever," she added.

In the end, Cordero spent more than 90 days in Cedars-Sinai hospital before he died on July 5. Kloots announced his death on social media, explaining that he was surrounded by family, "singing and praying as he gently left this earth."

"I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him.," she wrote in her Instagram post. "Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday."

Kloots went on to thank the medical staff that helped her husband during his battle, as well as friends, fans, and family for the outpouring of love and support.

"You have no idea how much you lifted my spirits at 3pm everyday as the world sang Nicks song, Live Your Life," she wrote. "We sang it to him today, holding his hands. As I sang the last line to him, “they’ll give you hell but don’t you light them kill your light not without a fight. Live your life,” I smiled because he definitely put up a fight. I will love you forever and always my sweet man."
