Amanda Bynes was tricked into flying from New York to Los Angeles on Friday, where she was involuntarily hospitalized on a 72-hour psychiatric hold. A court hearing is expected this week to determine her future care.

According to People magazine, the scheme to hospitalize Bynes was hatched by her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes, with the help of their attorney, Tamar Arminak, after the troubled actress' recent spate of DUI, shoplifting, and drug-related incidents.

USA Today reported that the actress was convinced on Friday to board the plane by her friend Sam Lufti, who also famously helped stage an intervention and psychiatric hold for a troubled Britney Spears in 2008. Bynes seemed to confirm she was in contact with him with a Friday tweet.

It's unclear whether the tweet thanking Lutfi came before or after her hospitalization, but it was reported that Lutfi convinced Bynes to board the plane so she could go to L.A. to sue her parents.

Earlier that day, Bynes had gone on an epic Twitter rant, leveling serious sexual abuse allegations against her father. She later deleted the accusing posts, then joked about the whole ordeal.

Bynes remained in the hospital on Monday. It's unclear if the hold will be extended to its maximum of 14 days as her parents move to gain conservatorship. They wholly denied their daughter's accusations, and released a statement in response.

"I am heartbroken today for my husband of 47 years," said Bynes' mother.

"Rick has been the best father and husband a family can ask for. He has never abused Amanda or our other children physically or sexually. These accusations are absolutely horrible and could not be further from the truth! These allegations stem from Amanda's mental state at the moment. They have no basis in reality. It saddens me beyond belief that my husband's character could be slandered in such a way."

Bynes' brother and sister also repudiated their sister's accusations, calling them a "fabrication."

Sadly, the latest incident is not the first time Bynes has been put on a psychiatric hold. She was also hospitalized in July 2013, and released into the custody of her parents.
