Instagram star Alexis Sharkey's cause of death has been revealed. On Tuesday, the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences revealed that the social media influencer, whose naked body was found on the side of a road in Texas last year, had been strangled, according to New York Post.
Sharkey went missing on Friday, Nov 27. She was last seen leaving her apartment that she and her husband, Tom Sharkey, owned following an argument with an unidentified person, according to reports. Tom called her family the following day to say she was missing. That day city workers discovered Sharkey's body three miles from her apartment.
Friends of Sharkey later claimed that things between Alexis and Tom were strained and that the social media star had grown fearful of Tom. She reportedly told them she was planning a divorce. Tom denied that their marriage was on the rocks.
Sharkey's mother, Stacey Robinault, has maintained that her daughter was murdered.
"I do believe she was murdered. Yes," she previously said, per ABC7. "From what I've been able to gather as well as a mother's gut. I learned very young as a mom to trust my gut. It's not let me down," she continued. "We're very broken. We're very broken-hearted. It's just painful for someone so bright and having so much to offer ... just to be gone, to be snuffed out. I don't know why. I don't know why. The horrific nature of her last moments must've been ... I can't even. I can't even go there."
No arrests have been made and the matter is under investigation.
