A medical helicopter crashed in Alabama early Saturday morning, killing three crew members and a patient being transported.

Federal investigators said they were investigating the crash near Goodman, in southeast Alabama, reported The Associated Press.

Coffee County EMA Deputy Director James Brown told WSFA-TV that four people were aboard the helicopter. He said the helicopter went missing around 12:17 a.m. Saturday. The downed helicopter was found just after 7 a.m.

A Federal Aviation Administration team from Birmingham was reported on the way to the scene.

Troy Regional Medical Center CEO Teresa Grimes said in a Facebook post Saturday that the medical center "is saddened" by the loss of the crew and patient.

The hospital's post indicated the helicopter was operated by "Haynes Ambulance and Flight Staff."
