Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers detailed his 2005 UFO sighting during a recent interview.

Rodgers shared the story during a two-hour conversation with actor Pete Holmes on his “You Made It Weird” podcast, and the detailed account has drawn widespread attention.

The incident happened the night before Rodgers was set to appear on ESPN's “Cold Pizza” in February 2005, CBS Sports reported. Rodgers was with former teammate Steve Levy and Levy’s brother at the time.

Going outside to investigate after hearing a siren, the three men saw a large orange object moving through the overcast night sky, Rodgers explained. Then approximately four fighter jets flew overhead.

"Now, if you know anything about UFO sightings or you've done research, you know that a lot of times two things are connected to UFO sightings," Rodgers said.

"One, is the presence of fighter jets. And two, there's a lot of sightings around nuclear power plants. So to tie it all together, the alarm we heard was from 30 miles out was a nuclear power plant that had an alarm that went off."

Elsewhere in the two-hour conversation, topics ranged from religion to vegan burgers to masturbation.

Holmes posted about the interview on Twitter.

Media reports credited the football star for the detail of his UFO story.

“He believes it, and it seems near impossible for anyone who hears his super-detailed story not to believe it as well,” The Los Angeles Times wrote.

“Now, that could have been all the pasta talking, but Rodgers’ story is pretty detailed,” Rolling Stone commented. “And if he is lying, there’s no doubt he’ll make one hell of a science fiction author once his playing days are over with.”

Bleacher Report also noted the convincing details of the story: “Some people will have a hard time buying a UFO story unless they actually see one themselves. Even then, some might refuse to believe their eyes. But there's no doubt in Rodgers' mind about what he saw—and it's something he won't soon forget.”

Twitter users had mixed reactions to the strange story.
