Aaron Hernandez and Shayanna Jenkins, his fiancee, will not be getting married anytime soon if Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson has anything to say about it. Jenkins is the mother of jailed former NFL star Hernandez's 7-year-old daughter.
In an article posted online Tuesday,
Hodgson told USA Today that he would do everything in his power to prevent a marriage between Hernandez and his high school sweetheart. A marriage could prevent Jenkins from being called as a witness against the former New England Patriots tight end, USA Today reported.
"I don't subscribe to that," Hodgson told the newspaper about a possible jailhouse marriage. "I feel that those rights are things that you access on the outside, if you're a good citizen. We'll do everything we can to not have that happen."

Hernandez is being held without bond in the Bristol County Jail,
charged in the murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd on June 17.
USA Today said prosecutors complained that Jenkins had cooperated with investigators until being ordered by Hernandez through a phone call to keep silent.
TMZ.com reported Tuesday that Los Angeles authorities were called to the scene of a domestic violence incident between Hernandez and Jenkins in June 2012. TMZ said law enforcement officials told them that incident happened in a Hermosa Beach residence the football star was renting.
When law enforcement arrived, Jenkins declined to file charges after a reported fight between the two, TMZ.com said.
It was just the latest allegation to crop up against Hernandez since the investigation into Lloyd's death began.
Hernandez is also being investigated in a 2012 double murder in Boston that authorities didn't connect to him until after his arrest for Lloyd's death.
CBS News stated that a car towed from Hernandez's uncle's home in Bristol matched the description of a vehicle police had been looking for in connection with the 2012 double-murder.
Authorities found Safiro Furtado, 28, and Daniel Abreu, 29, murdered from gunshot wounds July 15, 2012, in Boston's South End. Authorities told CBS News that a silver SUV with Rhode Island plates was reportedly seen speeding away from the drive-by shooting.
Sources told CBS News that Lloyd may have been killed because of information he had about Hernandez's possible involvement in the double-homicide.
