For those of you old enough to remember, Richard Nixon resigned the presidency in 1974 because he was about to be impeached for obstructing the investigation into the break-in of the Democrat offices located at the Watergate.

There is zero evidence to suggest President Nixon sanctioned or knew of the break-in prior to it.

Nixon found himself in impeachment hot water for destroying information related to the involvement of his staff in the criminal break-in.

Back in the early 1970s there were still some snarling and growling honest to God First-Amendment-celebrating media watchdogs who actually kept their nose to the ground when they got a whiff of something that didn’t smell right. Nixon paid a hefty price for the media’s dogged determination to get at the truth, as he and they should have.

My, how far we have fallen since the final days of President Nixon.

As a real hands-on conservationist, I believe the Endangered Species List should be discarded and eliminated, but while it is still around, it needs to be scrutinized and reassessed.

I believe hard-nosed investigative journalists should be added to the list. Investigative journalists are more rare than a lead-free California condor in Compton.

There isn’t just a little smoke lingering around the Benghazi massacre. The smoke is so thick that it would suffocate any journalist who still believes the media is the watchdog of government and not the president's personal lapdog.

Someone told Susan Rice, our United Nations representative, to repeatedly lie to the American public that Benghazi was the result of an anti-Muslim video that no one had even watched. Susan Rice didn’t make up that lie on her own.

Even my Motown hero Stevie Wonder can see through the fog of deceit that Ms. Rice was instructed to create in order to provide a classic Saul-Alinsky inspired diversionary tactic so that the real Benghazi story wouldn’t trip up the president on his never-ending campaign trail.

There are plenty of questions that still need to be investigated regarding Benghazi that led to four dead Americans.

Nobody died from the Watergate crime. This president has blood on his hands.

With no apologies to, or respect for former Secretary of State Clinton, it does indeed make a difference to those of us who still believe our public officials should be held to the highest of standards, that suspected cover-ups need to be investigated, that the truth still matters, and that four dead Americans deserve the respect of honesty and transparency to find out why they died and who is responsible.

The most transparent administration ever, eh Mr. President?

If Benghazi isn’t enough for you, the Department of Justice sanctioned a gun-running operation known as Fast and Furious.

Like Benghazi, Fast and Furious also resulted in the death of a citizen, in this case U.S. Border Guard Agent Brian Terry, and who knows how many Mexican lives. This little smoke and mirrors political misadventure and intentional anti-gun maneuver gone bad has turned into murder.

Hey, DOJ; anybody home?

When the House of Representative truth seekers were getting a little too close to Attorney General Holder, President Obama abused his executive authority to step in and essentially seal off potentially incriminating evidence against his buddy — and who knows who else.

Abusing his executive authority, President Obama is doing essentially the same thing that brought down President Nixon in 1974.

Benghazi and Fast and Furious are two more ugly and deadly chapters so far in President Obama’s tenure. These deadly boondoggles need to be doggedly investigated until the unvarnished truth is brought out from the thick wall of political smoke.

For an administration that claimed it would be the most transparent of any White House administration, that’s looking more and more to be another big fat lie.

Our republic is ultimately based upon truth. When the truth is intentionally hidden from the light by our elected officials, we have a republic in name only.

Raise hell, America. The buck stops with We the People.
