Ross Haley: Growth Means Nothing Without Sustainability

Growth is a tricky thing. Many businesses and entrepreneurs think of it as an end; however, growth is a dynamic process. It stops or withers when it lacks sustainability. At least, that’s what the owner of Truth Enterprises, Ross Haley, believes. For him, growth means nothing without sustainability.

The phrase, don’t bite off more than you can chew, perfectly sums up Ross’s sentiments towards sustainability and the role it plays in business growth. He says, “I was born at a time when the world of cannabis was undergoing a revival. With new and expanding literature and a plethora of positive experiences around its use, it was a force gaining momentum. For someone like me who had always been an entrepreneur at heart, this revival showed great promise. I did my research, made some contacts, and dove right in. My reading turned out to be correct as the business sustained itself after the initial spark of interest and continues to attract new customers.”

Ross has been a part of four successful cannabis companies exits. His fifth cannabis company, Truth Enterprises, he started in 2017 and then launched LBS Distribution, Puff Pre-Roll, West Coast Trees, and Simply Cannabis. For the last four years, Ross’ venture has been surfing the high tides of demand and supply. He says, “When you have a good idea and a strong will to back it up, success is almost inevitable. However, sustaining that upward-rising graph requires planning. One must learn to cultivate intuition, do good research quickly, and most importantly, not bite off more than one can chew. Growth tastes sweet in the beginning, but if left unstained, it can quickly turn sour.”

For Ross, sustainability is not just about being one step ahead of the competition but one step ahead of the market. He says, “Do your due diligence and study the market trends. Do you foresee a need for your product in the future? Can you create a genuine need? What does it solve? Will this product change people’s lives? These questions and the answers your research yields will sustain your growth over a period of time. If there was ever a shortcut to success and growth, this is it.”

A balanced approach and intense research underline the growth that Ross and his businesses have seen over the years. As the years press on, it’ll be interesting to see how his approach sustains his growth.
