Anil Dobani Lists Top 3 Lessons That You Must Consider on Your Journey to Success

By    |   Thursday, 16 September 2021 10:21 AM

Social media is one of the most explosive forces that a business can leverage to grow. Anil Dobani is aware of the impact that social media can have on a business. Through the years, he's learned that social media, if correctly leveraged, could swell a company's bottom line. Companies stand to benefit from billions of users of social platforms when they start a social campaign. Yet, in this fast-paced world of social media, it's easy to lose sight of a brand's goals. The best way to learn about the potentials and the pitfalls of the channel is to discuss them with an established entrepreneur. Anil has over 28,000 followers on Instagram and runs a successful jewellery business, with customers in the upper echelons of the NBA and the NFL. What are those essential lessons an entrepreneur should take note of?

1. Embrace Mistakes and Learn from Them

As with any business, mistakes will happen. Anil encourages new entrepreneurs in the space to accept their mistakes and move on from there. "The difference between failures and successes is that successes get up one more time," he says. Entrepreneurs should treat failures as case studies and dissect the issue in depth to learn the lessons that they may offer. It's only by looking at the reasons behind a mistake that a jeweller can hope to build it into a success later on.

2. Finding A Good Team Can be Challenging

Anil's business relies on manufacturers and vendors. While it's not a traditional retail business, it still has a significant amount of logistics that he needs to deal with. One of his most pressing challenges was locating suppliers and vendors that he could trust to deliver on time. "Your business is only as good as your team, so you should spend time to ensure you have one that can meet your demands consistently," he says. Logistics can be a challenge for any new business. Suppliers should be appropriately vetted before entering into contracts with them.

3. Be Careful Who You Trust

Behind the counter, businesses may be heavily reliant on their staff. As a new entrepreneur, one might be inclined to immediately trust whoever they hire or even people who they have known for years. Anil Dobani notes that trust in business, just like in life, should be earned. "I've lost a lot of money trusting the wrong people, and I learned that trust isn't something that you should offer by default," he says.

Applicable to Any Business

While Anil is a social media entrepreneur, these principles hold for any type of business. It doesn't matter if the entrepreneur is running an offline retail business or an Amazon storefront. These principles apply to every kind of business. Unfortunately, there's no roadmap that you can use to help you figure out what will work and what won't. Luckily, entrepreneurs like Anil Dobani can guide you in what works in a business and what doesn't.
