Last week's election was a referendum on President Obama's liberal policies. But it was also a referendum — albeit a much subtler one — on unpreparedness, which favors neither political party. And two candidates from the right proved that, above all, the public needs politicians who are ready and able to lead.
Despite a ton of national coverage and the backing of the tea partyers, voters just didn't think that Delaware senatorial candidate Christine O'Donnell and New York gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino were quite up to the job. The political viability of O'Donnell and Paladino was rejected. They didn't just lose — they lost big.
But along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who's acting less like she's dead in the water and more like she's living through a night of the living dead, Paladino and O'Donnell just didn't get the message.
