There is a wide racial divide among Democrats when it comes to belief in the God of the Bible. Just 32 percent of white Democrats believe in the God of the Bible. However, the Pew Research Center reports that 61 percent of non-white Democrats hold such faith.[1]
There is a similar political divide between white Democrats and white Republicans. Seventy-two percent 72 percent of white Republicans believe in the God of the Bible.
At the other extreme, only 5 percent of white Republicans do not believe in any kind of God or higher power. Among white Democrats, that figure is 21 percent.
In between are people who believe in a god or higher power, but not the God of the Bible. That’s the view held by nearly half of all Democrats (45 percent).
