Defense Secretary Robert Gates is criticizing the anonymous online leak of a video showing two Reuters news agency employees being killed in Iraq as presenting a "soda straw" view of war.
Gates' remarks come amid reports of U.S. forces killing civilians on a bus near Kandahar in Afghanistan. The video from Iraq was taken in 2007 by Army Apache helicopters when troops mistook a camera for an AK-47 and a long-range lens as an RPG. The video was released online by Wikileaks.org.
U.S. officials say the photographer and his driver were walking with other armed men and headed toward a firefight.
Gates says the video doesn't show what happened before or after. He said: "You're looking at a situation through a soda straw and you have no context or perspective."
