ST. PETERSBURG, Florida, March 9 (Reuters) - The Tampa Bay Lightning snapped their season-high four-game losing skid with a 4-3 shootout win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.

The Lightning's Martin St. Louis scored the lone shootout goal with a spin move that was reviewed by officials to ensure he maintained forward progress.

"It was pretty close," Chicago goalie Corey Crawford told reporters. "It looked like he maybe stopped for second and then kept going."

St. Louis had been unsuccessful on all three previous shootout attempts this season.

"I find that I have more success when I have fun with it," St. Louis said. "If I try to keep it simple, I beat myself. There was no pressure, I just didn't want to be scared of not scoring. I just wanted to go after it."

Chicago battled back from a 3-1 deficit with goals by Patrick Sharp and Jonathan Toews but were unable to beat Lightning goalie Dwayne Roloson in the shootout.

"We were down by two and they had a lot of things going for them early in the game," Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville said. "I thought we chipped away and did what we had to do."

Steven Stamkos opened the scoring with his NHL-leading 42nd goal midway through the first period but Chicago's Patrick Kane responded less than six minutes later.

Goals from St. Louis, at the end of the first period, and Teddy Purcell, at the start of the second, gave the Lightning a 3-1 lead.

Late in the second period with the Lightning leading 3-2 Stamkos had an opportunity to restore the Lightning two goal on a 2-on-1 with St. Louis, but Crawford made a diving save to his left on the Stamkos one-timer.
