LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - The jurors for the 2012 Los
Angeles Film Festival were announced Thursday, with the list
including "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" star Rachael Harris, film
critic Ernest Hardy and "Hollywood Shuffle" director Robert
Townsend.
The festival takes place June 14-24 in downtown Los Angeles.
The narrative jury will consist of actress Harris and Townsend,
who've both been nominated for Film Independent Spirit Awards,
along with Hollywood Reporter and Los Angeles Times film critic
Sheri Linden.
The documentary jury will include "Frozen River" producer
Heather Rae, "The Exploding Girl" producer Karin Chien and
"Thunder Road" director Mark Landsman.
Film critic and author Hardy will sit on the shorts jury,
along with "Your Friends and Neighbors" cinematographer Nancy
Schreiber and "Contracorriente" writer/director Javier Fuentes
Leon.
"I couldn't be happier with our juries this year," said
David Ansen, the festival's artistic director. "We've assembled
a sterling team that represents all aspects of the film
business: producers, directors, cinematographers, actors,
critics and, like the movies in the Festival, reflects the
diversity of Los Angeles."
Cash awards will be given out during the festival, including
the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature and Jury Award for
Best Documentary Feature, which will come with $15,000; the Best
Animated or Experimental Short and Best Documentary Short awards
will yield $5,000 each. The jury will also hand out an award for
Best Outstanding Performance in a Narrative Feature.
Several awards will also be determined by audience ballot.
