Benjamin Netanyahu Prevails

By    |   Wednesday, 18 March 2015 09:01 AM EDT

All Americans should celebrate the victory of Benjamin Netanyahu. We can sleep better knowing that there is a leader concerned about the safety of the West.

Thankfully, Netanyahu prevailed in the Israeli elections. As the man noted in front of Congress a few weeks ago, “We are an ancient people. In our nearly 4,000 years of history many have tried repeatedly to destroy the Jewish people.”

As he tweeted recently, “Against all odds: a great victory for the Likud. A major victory for the people of Israel!” In his victory he stood against many enemies of the state of Israel to win. And he won despite President Obama’s State Department funding left-wing organizations, and he won despite the world’s desire to crush this nationalist leader.

The founding father of the Likud Party, Ze’ev Jabotinsky in 1911 wrote a piece entitled “Go to Hell!” which can form the crux of Netanyahu’s thoughts – which he will not – but could deliver to the world.

As Jabotinsky said then: “Instead of excessive apology and instead of turning our backs to the accusers — as there is nothing to apologize for, and nobody to apologize to — it is long overdue to respond to all current and future accusations, reproaches, suspicions, slanders, and denunciations by simply folding our arms and loudly, clearly, coldly and calmly answer, ‘Go to Hell!’

“I consider this system to be false at its very root. We are hated not because we are blamed for everything, but we are blamed for everything because we are not loved. We do not have to apologize for anything. We are a people as all other peoples; we do not have any intentions to be better than the rest.

"We do not have to account to anybody; we are not to sit for anybody’s examination and nobody is old enough to call on us to answer. We came before them. We are what we are, we are good for ourselves, we will not change and we do not want to.”

The Jewish prime minister has not forgotten that Israel as a nation is a modern miracle. After 6 million Jews were murdered while the world stood by and watched, a nation was created. But it has been surrounded by enemies who have tried to destroy it from the very beginning. They have failed, time and time again.

Thankfully, Benjamin Netanyahu triumphed against all odds. Mazel tov, Benjamin Netanyahu.
