According to CNN (the Creating the News Network) teachers are foolish incompetents who are a danger to those around them and incapable of intelligently exercising their rights.

Yet for some reason teacher’s union functionaries have yet to condemn the network for this vicious attack on the character of our nation’s educators. I suppose that’s because the crown jewel of the Opposition Media was talking about guns instead of teacher evaluation.

CNN and the rest of the lefty news media are unanimous in believing that training and arming teachers would have a deadly effect on our nation’s youth. Why they are so fervent, if you replaced “guns” with “sex education” they would sound like Pat Robertson.

However there appears to be at least one journalism holdout who believes in researching both sides of a topic, because CNN has posted a story on its website that begins with this intriguing lead paragraph: “While the nation debates whether teachers should carry guns to protect students from armed intruders, the question's (sic) already settled in one Texas school district, where educators have had firearms on campus for years.”

If you suffered from the same delusions CNN anchors do — Brian "Alka" Stelter — comes to mind, that sentence alone would conjure up visions of London during the plague of the Black Death, with carts roaming the city picking up the dead.

The fact is no teacher in the Callisburg, Texax, school district has yet had to fire a weapon and for their part the students don’t feel like their lives are hanging by a thread. One told CNN, “I feel really safe, knowing that, I can come to school and if there's an incident that does happen that they'll be able to protect us.”

Callisburg is located approximately 85 miles north of Dallas and relies, like the high school in Parkland, Florida, did, on the local sheriff’s office for law enforcement. School superintendent Steve Clugston says that four years ago the district began what it calls it’s “guardian” program that armed teachers. And contrary to what the more hysterical members of the teaching profession evidently believe, no teacher is forced to carry a gun.

Those who wish to remain defenseless may do so.

Clugston explained the reasoning behind the program, “We'll do whatever's necessary to protect our kids and staff. We don't want to be at the mercy of somebody that's intent on doing harm.” The small guardian force is required to complete active shooter training once each year and “routinely takes target practice at gun ranges.”

Outside the school visitors don’t see the usual "sitting duck zone" signs. Instead they are greeted with the more bracing, teachers “may use whatever force is necessary to protect our students.”

The Clugston program is one of the 170 school districts in Texas that presently arm selected teachers. There have been no reports of any students harmed by an armed teacher. There have also been no reports of any mass shootings in the 170 school districts.
