Ruling Political Class Betrays Us by Cowering to Mobs

Police prepared to prevent rioting and looting are not "provocative" as the left would have you believe. Prepared law enforcement is preventative. It’s weakness and appeasement that are provocative. The forces of disorder feed on the fear and indecision of elected officials.

The point is obvious in San Francisco, California.

Last Friday during a celebration of "Juneteenth Day" in Golden Gate Park — the day when slaves in Texas were finally informed they were free — police stood idly by while a mob destroyed the statue of Gen. Ulysses S. Grant.

Proof that the "mostly peaceful" protests aren’t about race.

These riots are about revolution.

If the protests were about race, the mob would have spent the afternoon polishing Grant’s statue and making sure the grounds were spotless.

Here’s a brief account of U.S. Grant’s record on racial justice:

Grant always thought slavery was wrong.

In the late 1850’s, during a time when Grant was selling firewood on the streets of St. Louis, Missouri to feed his family, he freed a slave his wife’s family gave her. Grant was broke, but he felt so strongly regarding the evil of slavery that he emancipated the black man when selling him would have netted about $900, a small fortune at the time.

Then Grant went on to win the Civil War, which freed all the slaves in the Confederacy.

As president, Grant was instrumental is passing the 15th Amendment, which gave Freedmen the right to vote. He also used the army to smash the Ku Klux Klan when it began its terror rampage against freed slaves in the south.

And Grant also appointed the first Indian as head of the Office of Indian Affairs, a Seneca named Ely Parker who served as a Lt. Col. on Grant’s staff during the war.

You could take the entire sum total of all the efforts toward "racial justice" of the members of the mob that destroyed the statue and it would not equal one-tenth of what Grant accomplished.

It’s quite obvious these riots aren’t about any kind of racial justice. These ignorant, destructive mobs see something valued by normal people and their urge is to destroy it.

The fools in office that indulge this carnival of destruction are only fan the flames.

Tucker Carlson said it best last week on his Fox News show.

The normal, law abiding, tax paying citizens have no one willing to defend what they believe, what they value or what they possess. They voted for an orderly rule-of-law society, in fact that’s what they were promised, and they are getting a revolution.

It’s a universal betrayal by the ruling political class. The left hopes by indulging the mob it will be spared and Republicans hope by cowering before the mob they will be ignored.
