Narrow-minded, intolerant Puritans have once again censored the relatively modest display of the female form. For those of you in this secular society who are unfamiliar with Puritans, H.L. Mencken provides a suitably disparaging definition: Puritans are fanatics plagued by “the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.”

The only thing that’s changed since Mencken wrote his definition is the puritanical society commissars are no longer Christians, the censors are now leftists.

I can’t decide whether to blame this latest decision on the Jabba-like Harvey Weinstein or general cultural Marxist herd hysteria, but the fact is Formula One racing has now banned both the "Grid Girls" and the "Podium Girls."

Sean Bratches, an F1 factotum, gave a suitably buzzword packed and thought-free explanation of the decision to Motor Sports Talk, “We feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms. We don’t believe the practice is appropriate or relevant to Formula One and its fans, old and new, across the world.”

And this is for a group of girls that look like they are wearing parochial school uniforms! Why a single "Grid Girl" outfit would be enough to clothe an entire platoon of MMA "Ring Girls." I’d post a photo here to demonstrate, but I don’t think I could get it past my Newsmax editors.

Your average NFL cheerleading troop would consider the costume "Grid Girls" wear to be suitable for wearing only in extremely cold weather, like when you’re running from the plane to the Quonset hut during the visit to cheer up scientists battling "The Thing" in Antarctica.

The F1 costumes are so modest I’d let my daughter wear one and she claims I’m a notorious prude.

But reality doesn’t matter to leftists in the grip of a psychosis. If they are female, and men or feminists might look at them, they’ve got to go.

It’s not like the "Grid Girls" are part of a yearly shipment from White Slavers. These girls are volunteers who are old enough to know what they are doing. If might be different if a handful were run down by race cars each year in the pit area, but to my knowledge that never happens.

Considering the political situation here in the U.S., I hesitate to use this quote, but Russia Today hit the nail on the head: “Feminism now costing women their jobs.”
