Justice was so much less contentious when the left was in charge. The ‘penumbra’ factory that comprised the Supreme Court at that time could issue edicts legalizing abortion, same–sex marriage and a host of other leftist hobby horses without any complaint from the legal establishment.

The fact the rulings were based more on the whims of individual justices and not the Constitution didn’t bother our elite overlords.

Now that Trump has upset the establishment’s apple cart by appointing conservative judges who rule based on the Constitution, the remaining liberals on the court are beginning to complain.

Last week Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued a blistering dissent over a 5 – 4 ruling overturning a lower court injunction that blocked a Trump administration rule banning Green cards for welfare users.

Sotomayor wrote in her dissent, which was not supported by any of the other leftist judges, “Claiming one emergency after another, the Government has recently sought stays in an unprecedented number of cases, demanding immediate attention and consuming limited Court resources in each. And with each successive application, of course, its cries of urgency ring increasingly hollow."

What she is referring to is the Trump administration’s fight against nationwide temporary restraining orders issued by a single political district judge. Anti–Trump agitators search for a sympathetic judge who will issue an order blocking a policy with which he and the agitators disagree. But instead of blocking the policy in the judicial district where the judge rules, he issues a nationwide order in effect giving veto power to leftist policy groups that can’t win an election, but can win a judge’s heart.

Naturally, when a politician-in-robes issues such an order the Trump administration must go to court. The left wants the president to start his legal fight at the bottom, so even if the left eventually loses, the policy will have been delayed for months or years. And if they can delay past the election in 2020 and a Democrat wins, the the policy may go away forever.

To give you an idea of the scope of Sotomayor’s double standard, Attorney General Bill Barr did the research and discovered that during the entire eight years of Obama’s presidency a total of 20 nationwide injunctions were issued. Trump hasn’t even completed a single term and he’s already been hit with almost 40.

The case in question was a problem only to the left. During the Clinton administration, a law was passed that made the citizen sponsoring a Green card recipient liable to re-pay the government if a Green card holder went on the welfare rolls.

You can imagine how often that is enforced.

Trump is putting citizens first again by not importing individuals who will be welfare users. And before you fall for protests of how inhumane that is, consider the fact that Mexico has the very same law.

Sotomayor’s crocodile tears over her latest loss in a Supreme Court ruling are as false as the prayers Nancy Pelosi claims to say regarding Trump.
