Thanks to DA Gascon It's 'Let the Good Times Roll' for LA's Criminals

Recently we wrote about Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon.

The new DA is very particular regarding what laws he will enforce and much more lax about the many he chooses not to enforce.

Here’s a capsule from a prior column of ours regarding Gascon’s surrender to crime:

" What is not legal is for any district attorney to decide what laws he will enforce and what laws he won’t enforce.

"The district attorney is not the legislature.

"Law enforcement by whim is what’s found in Venezuela and other tin pot dictatorships; those run by strongmen who think they are above the law.”

You can read the rest of that column here.

We are quite pleased today to announce our judgement has been confirmed by another California distrcit attorney, Cynthia Zimmer.

In an opinion piece on Bakersfield.com, Zimmer explains how Gascon is creating a sanctuary city for criminals in Los Angeles. "Gascon has declared he will not allege a defendant’s prior ‘strike’ convictions in new criminal cases — ever.   . . . Prior strikes are legally required to be alleged by prosecutors. For you criminals, that means that the new LA DA is literally willing to break the law to ensure you don’t face the punishment you deserve!"

Then Zimmer asks criminals residing in her county a very pertinent question:

"Criminals, you really must ask yourselves, why continue living in our county when you can take your criminal activity to Los Angeles, where you will be greeted with open arms?"

She explains to slower members of the criminal class that Gascon will work hard to make being arrested just a minor inconvenience and no real impediment to their criminal plans — or for the less organized — their criminal impulses.

Gascon will do his best to eliminate cash bail and release those arrested for elder abuse, domestic violence, child abuse and rape of an unconscious person just as soon as his band of let the good times roll prosecutors can unlock the cell door.

Think of how being back on the street will make it easier to convince pesky witnesses to change their minds!

Gascon’s get out of jail card is more like a frequent flyer award.

Say you belong to a gang: laws that specifically target members of criminal gangs will be ignored, so no need to laser those tats.

You can be released on a "promise to appear" and if you’re forced by circumstances or temptation you can’t resist to commit another crime, Gascon "will not seek the lawful penalties for those who reoffend while they are released pending trial."

What a deal.

Los Angeles is only 111 miles from Bakersfield and that’s a short distance to travel for the land of criminal opportunity. It’s quite reasonable to ask, why take your chances with a tough prosecutor like Cynthia Zimmer when a powderpuff like George Gascon awaits in Los Angeles?

The LA voters who foolishly elected Gascon knew they were importing a DA from San Francisco, but did they also know his coattails would drag in criminals from all over California?
