Critics: 5 Democrats Exploit Kavanaugh Accusers for Campaign Cash

Independent watchdogs and Republicans are blasting attempts by several leading Democratic senators to use the contentious Supreme Court confirmation proceedings -- including sexual assault accusations against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh -- to launch fundraising pitches to finance upcoming campaigns.

At least five Democratic senators, several of whom sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee, have referenced the hearings in their latest appeals to potential donors. One of the senators said Thursday its fundraising email was sent in error, and has apologized.
