Analysts Expect Beto O'Rourke to Shirk Debating Ted Cruz

Texas political wunderkind Rep. Beto O’Rourke has already nixed one debate with incumbent GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, and strategists are beginning to suggest he may refuse to debate Cruz altogether.

The charismatic O’Rourke’s reluctance to take the debate stage against Cruz strikes political observers as curious, given his relatively low name recognition in the state. But Cruz was a nationally recognized debater during his years at Harvard law school.
