Windshield Killer Gets 50 Years

Friday, 27 June 2003 12:00 AM

Chante Mallard, 27, was convicted of murder Thursday in the bizarre death of 37-year-old Gregory Biggs in October 2001. She was sentenced to 50 years for murder and 10 years for tampering with evidence. The sentences will run concurrently.

Earlier Friday, Brandon Biggs, the victim's 20-year-old son, told the jury that he missed his father. Defense expert Gary Wimbish testified that the alcohol and drugs Mallard had consumed might have confused her the night of the accident.

Mallard drove to her home after the accident and parked the car in the garage with Biggs body still in the shattered windshield. Medical experts said he bled to death.
