Unfair Recounts: What Can the Florida Supreme Court Do?

Thursday, 16 November 2000 12:00 AM

If Harris, in going to the Supremes, indicated a lack of resolve, as opined by this writer, she surely regained that resolve by evening when she discharged her duty and boldly - but correctly - disallowed the handcounts.

The patent unfairness of such counts in only Democrat counties is becoming clearer to everyone.

The great risk taken by Harris and now Governor Bush, who has rejected Al Gore's statewide hand count offer, is that seven Florida Supreme Court Justices, all picked by Democrat Governors, will see and disallow the patent unfairness of such a limited and skewed handcount.

What may the Florida Supreme Court do when it gets this dumped into its lap? It can:

1. Order the inclusion of the Gore-aiding handcounts.

Seven robed Florida Justices are going to decide this election. Not quite what the Framers of our Constitution had in mind.
