Terrorist Wants Steven Spielberg to Consult On Munich Massacre Movie

"If someone really wanted to tell the truth about what happened, he should talk to the people involved, people who know the truth," Mohammad Daoud told Reuters by telephone from an undisclosed location in the Middle East.

In retaliation, Israel's Mossad intelligence agency tracked down and assassinated 11 PLO members in the years after the raid.

Spielberg's film "Munich" is reportedly based in part on "Vengeance," a book on the reprisal campaign that has been widely discredited, according to Reuters.

"I read ‘Vengeance,'" said Daoud. "It is full of mistakes."

Daoud, the only remaining terrorist responsible for the raid, survived a 1981 gun attack in Poland that the PLO blamed on Mossad.

He said Israel targeted some innocent people in their reprisals and he hoped that would be portrayed in the movie.

"They carried out vengeance against people who had nothing to do with the Munich attack, people who were merely politically active or had ties with the PLO," he said.

"If the film fails to make these points, it will be unjust in terms of truth and history."

Spielberg has vowed that "Munich" will be sensitive to all sides.
