United Press International first reported on Sept. 18 that bin Laden had left his bases around the southwestern Afghan city of Kandahar for an undisclosed destination. The Taliban regime has denied having knowledge of his whereabouts.

Sources close to Pakistani religious parties believe that Lebanon or the remote mountainous region of Chechnya could be the possible place, where bin Laden might have opted to hide.

A report Saturday suggested that bin Laden might opt for Chechnya or Dagestan.

An analyst said bin Laden could return to his native Saudi Arabia, or he could go to the Philippines, Burma, where Muslim fundamentalist movements are already active.

However, experts said bin Laden would select Chechnya because another Islamic militant Khitab, who is from Jordan, is fighting the Russian army. Other experts suggest he might try to go to China, Russia, Yemen or even Iraq.

Meanwhile, Iranian radio reported Saturday that bin Laden was still hiding in the central Afghan province of Oruzgan.
