One Reporter's Opinion: If the Terrorists Don't Get Us, the Illegals Will

It is this reporter's opinion that we are now facing evidence of border crossings by Muslim terrorists. They enter Mexico, learn to speak Spanish, adopt Latin American culture and dress, and use the assistance of Mexican drug cartels and elements of the Mexican military to enter the U.S. clandestinely.

When did the threats against us begin? The first attack came in 1979 with the Iran Embassy hostages. There followed in 1983 bombings at the Beirut, Lebanon, Embassy and Marine barracks. Next, the 1988 Pan Am flight to New York that crashed in Lockerbie, Scotland. Then in 1993, the first World Trade Center attack, and in 1996, the Saudi Arabian Dhahran attack. In 1998 came the Nairobi, Kenya, U.S. Embassy attack, followed by the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Tanzania. Next, the U.S.S. Cole was attacked in Yemen.

And, of course, the New York World Trade Center disaster of 2001, which was the terrorists' crowning achievement.

Most recently, the plot to destroy commercial planes in flight between England and the U.S. is waking us up to the very real threats against American lives.

During the period from 1981 to 2001, there were 7,581 terrorist attacks worldwide, all of them carried out by Muslims/Islamic terrorists.

Why are we being attacked? It is because Islamic terrorists envy our position in the world, our success, but most of all, our freedoms.

Tony Blankley, editor of The Washington Times, in his book "The West's Last Chance" (available at Amazon.com; see Related Links below) asks, "Will we win the clash of civilizations?" Blankley is shocked by the West's flawed response and our psychological denial of the nature and magnitude of the radical Islamist threat.

In "The West's Last Chance," Blankley reveals:

Blankley knows full well that the enemy is much more than al-Qaida and that the stakes are much higher than most people realize.

Pat Buchanan, in his brilliant book

Buchanan calls the unprecedented entry of legal and illegal foreign born during the last ten years "a 'tsunami' unlike any wave ever seen in the history of the world. The immigrants who came from Europe in previous centuries fully assimilated; today's immigrants are self-segregating, forming their own towns within our cities, maintaining their language and identifying with one another – not America."

He asks,

Harvard Professor Samuel Huntington** says, "The central issue of our time is the migration into America of millions of people who come from very different cultures and refuse to adapt to ours."

Our problems are not unlike those of other countries around the world. The population of Muslim immigrants is growing faster than that of their French hosts. They are French citizens, but they are not French. We witnessed their destructive plans in action in Paris in December when the Muslims bombed 10,000 cars and rioted for three weeks. And in Spain and the U.K., whose citizens suffered train and subway bombings by immigrants – Muslims.

What is happening in Europe is repeating itself in America. Buchanan says America needs a ten-year moratorium on all immigration. It's our only chance for assimilating those who are here and still coming. Buchanan understands our dilemma:

And the U.S. appears hellbent in its rush toward a fate similar to France, Spain, Holland and England. Europe is folding under the dramatic fall in its native birth rate and the entry of 20 million unassimilated Muslims.

Buchanan's book exposes what the future of America will bring if we allow this invasion to continue. It is what our children will face if we don't take action now. As my good friend Frosty Wooldridge puts it: "Conviction without action is worthless. Conviction coupled with action changes history. It's time to get busy." And, as Buchanan puts it, "In our hearts we know what must be done;

Not only are we being invaded by Latin and Central America, but we also are attacked daily by terrorist Muslims who are fanatically bent on doing us in – in their own words, "killing all of the infidels." There is no way to win what is now a battle between two civilizations.

If we lose this war, we will no longer be the premier country in the world. The attacks on us will not subside but will steadily increase. Let's face it, America: THEY WANT US DEAD, NOT JUST QUIET. The attacks that began in 1979 were only the beginning. The terrorists' plan is to attack us until we are neutered and completely submissive to them.

The Muslims know full well what is riding on this war. They are focused and totally committed to winning at any cost. We had better know it too and be likewise committed.

How could we lose the war? The answer is simple: by imploding – defeating ourselves by refusing to recognize the enemy and their purpose. If we stand united, there is no way we can lose. If we continue to be divided, there is no way we can win.

Democracies don't have their freedoms taken away from them by some external military force; they give their freedoms away. Paraphrasing Toynbee: Great nations don't die, they commit suicide.

** Professor Samuel Huntington is a political scientist known for his analysis of the relationship between the military and the civil government, his investigation of coups d'etat, and his thesis that the central political actors of the 21st century will be civilizations rather than nation-states. More recently, he garnered widespread attention for his analysis of threats posed to the United States by modern-day immigration. He is a professor at Harvard University.
