One Reporter's Opinion @ 14th Amendment Abuse by Illegal Aliens

Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:00 AM

European countries have done away with such birthright citizenship because they experienced the same abuses we witness. "Coyotes," dealing in human traffic, are paid exorbitant fees to shuttle pregnant illegal women across our southern border. Meanwhile our politicians and elites wink at this blatant law violation and do nothing. Our senators and representatives are parties to this illegal baby invasion and yet most Americans mistakenly trust our politicians to do the right thing.

A registered nurse, Stephany Gabbard, relates this story: "I am an obstetrical nurse working in the San Fernando Valley of California. Tonight I drive to my job in 'Labor and Delivery.' Before I arrive, eight other nurses are busy in an obstetrical unit. Our patients are 99 percent pregnant illegal alien women who have broken United States immigration laws to give birth to an American citizen child."

This is their family's entry ticket into the United States. No pesky visa applications. No waiting in line for several years like so many millions who enter this country through the front door. Pregnant Third World women have discovered that the only thing they have to do is walk across the U.S.-Mexico border and the 14th Amendment becomes their ticket.

And it grows worse by the day, to the point where whole industries have developed around this 14th Amendment abuse.

The Irish Supreme Court, experiencing the same abuses we witness, recently ruled that immigrant parents could be deported even if they have an Irish child. It had become common for single pregnant women to come to Ireland from faraway Nigeria and other African states.

Britain and Australia have both changed their citizenship laws.

If you are born in Switzerland, you do not automatically become a Swiss citizen.

Why should Americans allow our country to be invaded by people who do not honor allegiance to our laws? While other countries are ACTING on such abuse, the U.S. chooses to further misinterpret our 14th Amendment. It's time our Supreme Court re-examine the intent and purpose of the 14th Amendment, or it will continue to be a free pass – an entry ticket into the United States.
