Not Tough Enough

President Bush deserves a little praise.

On the other hand, if I were to advise the President, I would encourage him to take his statesmanship up a notch and disassociate our nation from the U.N. altogether. Why call upon the UN to help with the reconstruction of Iraq?

Do we really want U.N. sponsored brothels, UNESCO educated children, Syrian human rights watchers, and any number of capitalism and U.S. haters in Iraq helping us set up things up?

If we really wanted to make a mess of this, to undo all the good, all the sacrifices of so many good men, this would do it.

And how can we say, "The American people respect the idealism that gave life to this organization. [That we] respect the men and women of the U.N., who stand for peace and human rights in every part of the world"? — What, all three of them?

Last I heard, out here in the trenches among ‘the people,’ the U.N.’s name was MUD.

Further, many of us, that is, ‘the American people’ (not the politicians) have not forgotten that “the idealism that gave life to this organization” read like the roster and charter of the Communist Party USA. Forty-eight identified communists, including convicted Soviet spy Alger Hiss, were involved in its founding, with the Communist Party USA, itself, admitting that establishing the U.N. was their goal from the start.

As for today, never has there been a better, safer place for haters of America to gather for a good ‘Bash the U.S., Bash the Capitalists, Praise Fidel Party.’ And add to that, the U.N. gives terrorist organizations and thug nation states a voice, political power, legitimacy, and, indeed, a dominating role in an organization which claims to want to bring peace, prosperity, and freedom to the world. Isn’t there something wrong with this picture?

More on this tomorrow.
