MSNBC Says Palm Beach Judge's Ruling a Defeat for Gore

That’s what Jim Avila reported on MSNBC shortly after the ruling. The judge simply told the canvassing board to continue doing what it had been doing all along – consider tossing out ballots that had only a single dimple in the presidential chad but complete perforations throughout the remainder of the ballot.

The Gore campaign, Avila said, wanted a ruling that would have included up to 6,000 more ballots, most of which would have gone to the vice president. The judge's ruling, Avila said, would give Gore a few hundred extra votes at the most.

Fox News and other news outlets have described the ruling as a victory for Gore.
