McCain Craves Attention

Wednesday, 30 May 2001 12:00 AM

This massive egomaniac can't stand that attention in the Senate has switched from him to Jim Jeffords and now to the new majority leader, Tom Daschle.

Thus a spate of contradictory news reports hinting that McCain may also leave the GOP and "go independent."

One of these reports – in Time magazine – even has Ted Kennedy wooing McCain and personally urging the man who holds Barry Goldwater's Senate seat to leave the Republican Party.

Other stories quote McCain political operatives

What is going on here?

McCain is merely a spoiled-brat-turned-former-POW who became a U.S. senator. He

(Believe me, you do not want to be in the same room with him when he goes "nuts." He is an out-of-control psycho of the first order.)

With G.W. Bush dominating the news – as any president does – McCain

So McCain is desperately casting about for ways to stay in the news.

If the energy crisis worsens and the presidential poll numbers continue to deteriorate – Bush's unfavorables are up to 36 percent and climbing – look for McCain to revive speculation of another presidential run in 2004. But there is one problem for McCain:

In reviewing last year's presidential primary returns, it is a fact that actual Republican primary voters rejected McCain 80-20! It was independents and Democrats who were allowed to vote in 'open' GOP primaries – New Hampshire and Michigan, for example – who gave McCain those big primary victories. (The GOP should stop non-Republicans from selecting the GOP nominees.)

So please tell me, how can McCain ever hope to win the Republican presidential nomination when his own party's voters can’t stand him?

This is McCain's conundrum.

Yes, the media – all lefties – love him. Why wouldn't they? All he does is dump on the GOP.

Yes, liberal and independent voters like him -

But do you believe the Democrats would ever nominate McCain for president – over other lifelong Democrats like Gore, John Kerry, Richard Gephardt or Tom Daschle? No way!

This is why McCain is so unhappy. He has no home! He is not comfortable in the GOP because his own fascistic Big Government approach to problems doesn't fit into a laissez faire party. And he knows he cannot fit into the Democrat Party – or not enough to rise to the top.

So he muddles along trying to get attention where and when he can.

Ultimately he is only a threat to the Bush White House as a short-term tool of the Mainstream Media and the Left.

But he has no base – and no national future.

Thank goodness!
