Film Shows FBI Fired on Davidians

Tuesday, 17 April 2001 12:00 AM

"The F.L.I.R. Project" depicts scientists' tests that show the FBI did fire on the trapped church members as the men, women and children died in the burning building, McNulty says. More than 80 Davidians died when the 51-day standoff between the sect and federal officials came to a violent end in Mount Carmel, Texas.

"Everyone thought that the issues surrounding the Waco tragedy were finally dead and buried at the hands of former Senator John Danforth, federal Judge Walter Smith and Congressman Dan Burton. We are here today to proclaim the rise of the Phoenix and to offer the truth about the endgame of April 19, 1993," stated McNulty.

"The core question of the Waco holocaust has always been, 'Did the FBI fire upon the Branch Davidians as they sought to escape the burning building at midday on April the 19th?' Special Counsel Danforth spent millions of taxpayers' dollars in pursuit of answers to just this question alone.

"The conclusions Danforth offered on the subject of federal gunfire were based on flawed results. The special counsel's team, out of ignorance or deceit, has destroyed the credibility of the March 19, 2000 'Waco Re-creation' at Fort Hood, Texas, and the scientific analysis that followed," McNulty said.

McNulty, a Vietnam veteran, investigative journalist and director of the national interest group Citizens' Organization for Public Safety, told NewsMax.com on Tuesday night that he began as a skeptic when he started investigating the tragedy eight years ago. But his findings resulted in two documentary features.

"Waco: The Rules of Engagement" netted McNulty a 1997 Academy Award nomination and was named documentary film of the year by the International Documentary Association. "Waco: A New Revelation" was honored as best film at the Houston International Film Festival in 2000. "The F.L.I.R. Project" should only add to that reputation.

"I'm up for the hemorrhoid-of-the-century award from the FBI," McNulty told NewsMax.com.

"My daddy always told me, 'If you are going to dance with the devil, do it in the sunshine.'"
