Federal Judge in Miami Refuses to Halt Vote Recount

Monday, 13 November 2000 12:00 AM

The judge stated that Florida's vote-counting process appeared to be neutral and that he saw no reason for a federal court to intervene.

Republicans sought the injunction on the grounds that the manual recount in four heavily Democratic counties was unconstitutional. Democrats argued the recount was necessary because thousands of votes may have been missed by computers during the electronic recount.
