It gave the administration until today to provide those documents. If the requested documents are not received by the deadline, the three congressional chairmen vow to consider using their authority to subpoena the administration.
The three chairmen, Reps. Ben Gilman, R-N.Y., of the House International Relations Committee, Floyd Spence, R-S.C., of the House Armed Services Committee, and Porter Goss, R-Fla., of the House Intelligence Committee, said the administration had briefed House members last week on the Gore matter but failed to provide all of the documents that Congress had requested.
"It is my hope that we can avoid the issuance of a subpoena by working cooperatively with the administration. If our deadline is not met, then we will have to consider using subpoena authority," Gilman said in a statement.
