Deadly Bombing Near Tel Aviv

Wednesday, 22 May 2002 12:00 AM

Israel TV reported two casualties, while other media reports said dozens of people have died. At least 30 are reported injured.

Police said the bomb exploded on Rothschild Street in the middle of the city.

Fifteen Israelis were killed May 7 when a bomber blew himself up in the city's pool hall.

David Baker, an official in Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's office, reportedly called Wednesday's bombing "another cowardly act of terror committed by Palestinian terrorists who have once again resorted to their murderous deeds. Israel will not buckle under the face of terror and we will use whatever measures are needed to root it out."
