Judge Burton said his canvassing board has had more than 14,000 ballots to examine.
He said they would be unable to meet the 5 p.m. deadline today despite having worked through the night.
"If they used the Broward or Texas standard for dimpled ballots, Gore would be up by hundreds of votes,'' Jamal Simmons, a spokesman for the
Florida Democratic Party, told the AP.
Observers report that Gore is up by between 116 and 132 votes after 500 precincts completed.
