Senate Republicans on Monday signaled they were open to confirming Janet Yellen as treasury secretary should Joe Biden win the presidency, reports The Hill.

"I believe that she would get a favorable view," Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, told the news outlet.

"I think she's fine. I don't have any problems with her," Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said. "My attitude is that absent conflicts of interest or other, you know, lack of temperament and uber-partisanship, that beyond those, that the vice president should get the people that he wants."

Biden earlier Monday named an economic team led by Yellen, the former Federal Reserve chair. She is expected to champion what she’s called “extraordinary fiscal support” to help the pandemic-ridden economy.

Many media outlets called the presidential election for Biden, who would take office Jan. 20. President Donald Trump is challenging the election results, alleging widespread fraud, and has not conceded.

When asked whether he would support her, Cornyn answered: “I have heard of no reason why I would not.”

Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., told The Hill Yellen would get a “fair process.”

"I can think of worse nominations they could have made," he said.

Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., last Wednesday suggested he might vote “no” for Yellen to lead the Treasury Department. He said he was unhappy with Yellen as head of the Federal Reserve, where she served from 2014 to 2018, and complained that Trump was “blockaded” by Democrats “every step along the way to get his people and this Cabinet nominated.”
