MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin's new Republican governor isn't only trying to move his pro-business agenda through the state Legislature. Scott Walker wants to do it now — this week, if possible.
Walker has been ramming through bills that change the state's tax structure, provide new legal protections for businesses, and address other complicated issues.
Several measures will come to a vote Thursday. More are right behind.
Major legislation usually takes months, and Democrats complain the haste will only lead to mistakes. Some lawmakers haven't even had time to finish moving into their offices. Interest groups are scrambling to hold press conferences.
But Walker says voters in November approved his ideas for improving Wisconsin's business climate, and there's no reason to wait.
