Attorney General William Barr made another attempt to stop the Trump administration from pushing forward its agenda on striking down Obamacare completely, CNN reports.

Barr presented his argument on Monday to Vice President Mike Pence, White House counsel Pat Cipollone, members of the Domestic Policy Council, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and several other officials.

Barr argued the administration should change its position on the topic, which is scheduled to be heard at the Supreme Court this fall. He asked the group to back down from its position that the entire law be invalidated.

The meeting ended without a decision, according to CNN. Barr’s deadline to make any changes to the legal argument is Wednesday.

Sources told CNN that Barr argued for changing the administration's current stance to keep parts of the law, rather than fully back the lawsuit filed by a group of Republican states.

This isn’t the first time Barr has suggested a total strike down of the Affordable Care Act could lead to repercussions at the polls and to the country's healthcare system, but this time his argument is bolstered by the coronavirus pandemic.
